Divisional Plan

Professional Learning Funding provided by Manitoba Education - Please provide details below
1) To date, how have you used the money your division received for K-8 teachers' LwICT professional learning in 2008-09 and 2009-10?
2008-09: (Budget allocated for LwICT was $42 100.) provided 4 X 1/2 day sessions to familiarize staff from 9 schools with LwICT initiative; provided release time for collaborative planning groups; trained new peer coaches and provided release time for them to work with teachers; assisted teachers in attending Riding the Wave of Change and Dr. Donald Leu;
2009-10: (Budget allocated for LwICT was $20 000.) Provided release time for collaborative planning groups; facilitated continuing contact for peer coaches; provided support for teacher attendance at BYTE 2010; providing specific professional learning/training as requested; facilitating the use of emerging technologies;

2) What professional learning is occurring now because of the extra funding that you previously not able to do? We have been able to provide much more support for classroom teachers to collaborate. We were able to implement the peer coaching program.

3) Does your division have any strategies for ongoing professional learning (For example: Professional Learning Community - online, face-to-face, mentors, etc?)
Grade level conferences in First Class; Peer Coaching continuing contact, support and release time;

4) What successful strategies would you like to recommend to other divisions? There is value in the implementing the Peer Coaching. Some kind of professional learning network where teachers can share resources.
